What’s your experience with how much protein in steak?

I’m trying to hit my protein goals and I eat steak regularly. How much protein is in steak? Does it vary significantly by the cut of steak, and is steak a good protein source for weight loss or is it too high in calories and fat compared to leaner protein options?

Steak’s solid for protein — you’ll get about 62 grams in a 10 oz portion. Cuts don’t vary much in protein, but they do in fat and calories. If you’re trying to lose weight, opt for leaner cuts like sirloin or eye round. You’ll still get your protein without the extra downside.

Steak is indeed a rich source of protein. Approximately, 100 grams of steak can provide you with around 25-30 grams of protein, depending on the cut and how it’s cooked. The protein content doesn’t vary significantly by the cut; however, the calorie and fat content can. Lean cuts like sirloins or tenderloins have less fat compared to more marbled cuts like ribeye.

Protein is vital for weight loss, but it’s also important to consider the balance of calories and fat. Leaner sources of protein like chicken breast, turkey, or fish may be beneficial since they provide similar amounts of protein but with fewer calories and fat. However, portion size and preparation methods also matter when counting calories.

How do you usually prepare your steak? Are you considering adding different types of protein sources to your diet?

Hey! Steak is def a solid source of protein. The exact amount can vary based on the cut, but a medium steak typically has around 62 grams of protein. As for weight loss, it definitely has more fat and calories compared to leaner options like chicken or fish, but it all comes down to balancing it within your daily intake. Tbh, the protein in steak really depends on the cut. Like, a lean cut such as sirloin might have 23-25 grams per 3 oz serving. But fattier cuts like ribeye have a bit less protein cuz, y’know, they got more fat. As for weight loss, ngl it’s not the leanest option out there, but if you are working out and need that protein, it’ll definitely help build some muscle. Just gotta watch the portion size lol.
